While all of us in the Internet Publishing business are declaring a short term victory against SOPA which has become Toxic for any politician or company to support we still face internet censorship by some of the biggest in the business. Google won’t publish Adwords Campaigns that are related to the adult industry (at least not in any important countries) and the biggest in censorship on the internet today is FACEBOOK.
Social Media giant Facebook has started their censorship of all content that is published on their network. Again and again accounts are closed, photos are deleted and users get blocked because of what Facebooks Censors are saying is inappropriate content. But it goes far beyond the “Porn” or “Hardcore Photos”, Photographer Kevin Stolz had a normal photo which he shares below which got deleted from his Facebook account because Facebook Censors claimed that it was infringement of copyright.
Kevin commented in a letter to digital photography magazine “One day I logged into my account and there was a message that this photo had been deleted because it was a copyright infringement but you can see clearly from the watermark as well as all of the META DATA that we as photographers now embed in our images to prevent these problems is all MINE. I wrote to the morons at Facebook and their reply was that the final decision is theres and there is NO disputing. They sent me a link to a page that had information on their “Censorship” committee and I was shocked to see that the people who decide what we can and cannot publish in OUR profiles are a bunch of 70 year old women and men most likely who haven’t been fucked in years”
This is a grand example of internet censorship at its worst but for the adult industry it doesn’t end there. It was fine when Facebook did and continues to violate our privacy and continue to be embattled in countries like the UK and Germany over Privacy Violations but I personally think it’s time to Start CLOSING Facebook accounts or maybe stop logging in and stop buying their publicity to force them to reform or Close Down. We can maybe make then another MYSPACE case, EXTINCT.
